Wow this is a great for children to start with i love the cover because it gets the childs attention and draws them in. The photo engages the child to think who they want to be. (reviewed By Julie)
The fact the author uses the A to Z method
is also a teaching tool and thats a plus because the child can learn their alphabets as well. I see teachers in schools using it as well as parents buying it for their children.
For children with learning disabilities its a helpful tool because of the engaging tool and its easy and a quick read.
I love the images they are colorful and inspiring and they give us a sense of what
Kind of people are in the world.
The book also teaches about race and maybe culture on some level because of the photos.
The author has the right idea an right target I see teachers taking children to fill trips and Connecting it to the book. Children will also want to talk about this more and share it with family and friends.
The message the author is sending is children can be anything and there are no limits.

I like the language the author used because it is relatable and easy to follow. The author has a message of hope and faith in her book something a lot of us need to learn today.
The story reminds me of a friend who has cancer and how she uses illness to help others. This is a book that could help others heal on all levels. I believe the author wants to teach her

Review of different side of same coin
As a poet myself i think getting the reader to hear your voice and see you could be hard But what i love about this book is the use of everyday people and events that is true to the poet. Although this is a book of poetry it also connects on a story level because the poets are also telling us a story . I think the book is entertaining and inspiring for all ages . It does have a lot of other great highlights like the use of words that metaphor for symbols in life or may mean something else. I think the poets should teach a class because the book can use in schools for children to read and learn from . i would give it a 5 out 5 stars. (reviewed by Julie)

Meet Gia Black. Smart and beautiful. You can say that she has almost everything put together but her love life. Gia is in a relationship with Matthew aka Taboo. The love between them is a
threatening love with the threats coming from Taboo. Somewhere Gia does not want to be but tolerates it. We all have the love that got away. But will go after it again if love returns. Well this
is what is going on between Gia and Infinity. Things happen between Gia and Infinity that makes Gia realize where her heart should be. But will the return love be that easy to obtain or will someone risk it all to get the love that they want. Page turner. In some spots in this novel I was confused. That confusion would not last long because questions that would arise were quickly answered in a later chapter. Character development was minimum. This novel has a lot of situational development in other words a
moving plotline that was excellent. With the interactions in the characters and the situations in the novel everything was well thought of and developed. What I love most of all was the conclusion. A novel that shows a situation from beginning to end making sure to cross every “t” and dot every “i” is a winner in my book. (review by Patrice)

We are surrounded by relationships in everything that we do. This book gives pointers in relationships from how to start one to how to get what you want from it. There are examples that are given throughout. From how to deal with personal situations between you and your mate to employer to employee. Resolving issues in relationships is something that we all strive for and with this novel, some information can be given to help achieve this goal.
Great information could be found throughout this novel. As a reader, I would have liked more pointers/information. There were plenty of examples but not enough information/pointers. As a reader, if the author placed more context, this would greatly improve the rating.

Rating: 5 stars
This is a touching, emotional, and in every sense very raw memoir. It is a detailed account of the author’s experience and survival of abuse from a number of abusers, from pre-teen to
adulthood. While this may seem like hard reading, I personally found it very insightful, and took away valuable lessons about self-worth and ‘red flags’, when it comes to relationships
that could potentially become abusive. Even as a reader that has never walked in the same shoes the author has, I saw the message, understood it, then quickly started to admire the author’s bravery. Firstly, for turning her life around, secondly, for being brave enough to
write the memoir. There are some very shocking events the author shares surrounding past relationships, which highlighted the length abusers will go to when it comes to control. It pulled on my heart strings yes, but I was turning the pages very quickly! The writing style was easy to follow, personal and natural. I really felt as though the author was conversating directly with me, I liked this. Within the personal accounts and story-telling of the author’s personal journey, are a number of beautiful and frank poems. I loved them and found them touching.
Overall, enjoyed the emotional journey as a reader, I recommend this book to every woman who has or is currently in an abusive relationship to help with healing and moving forward. I
also recommend it for anyone who has not experienced this, but has an interest in subject matter. Five stars from me, a touching memoir that is well worth a read.

Book Review- By Kim Knight
Title: The Power of The Bayou
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Author: Dana Littlejohn
Publishing date: January 2020
Publisher: Dana Littlejohn
Rating: 4 stars- Enjoyable Read
Wow this is a fast moving plot! The author did not hang around with pace. I liked that, I
enjoyed this little novella story. What pulled me in was the book’s blurb, genre, and the
location it’s set in. We follow the hero’s story—Reynaud after he is cast out by ‘his people’,
who are magical beings that have been alive for centuries, living undetected in this realm. His punishment handed to him is because, he is accused of a crime. As the story develops we learn he was set up, while he spends time in this realm as part of the punishment. He then falls for the heroine— Kameryn which sets him the path he needs to be. There are some twists here, no spoilers from me!
I was gripped from the first few pages, the opening scene with Reyanud’s situation had me reading quickly. I found the characters Kameryn and Reynaud both to be likeable. Kameryn has a backstory of her own, which weaves nicely into how her path crosses with Reynaud’s, itwas easy to see why the two would find love given Reyanud’s ‘situation’ and punishment. The ‘bad guys’ and other secondary characters to me I enjoyed reading. Reyanud’s enemy was not likeable and he was not meant to be! Kudos to the author here. Like I said, I found as a reader that the plot moved quickly, which was good for me. That said I felt that some areas could have been developed more as I read. Such as Kameryn and Reyanud’s first year together. Literally as one chapter ended, the next started stating they had been together a year. As a reader rather than being told this, it would have been lovely if the author showed it— show don’t tell. This would have been a good reading experience for me,
and filled in gaps regarding questions I had. Such as how did their love, relationship, life, and business partnership etc develop over that year? At this point it would have been nice to see and experience this. As well as them actually falling for one another and love bloom, rather than being told or it just happened as a new chapter started.
Now I read very closely especially in genres where the world is ‘made up’ like paranormal
stories, the timestamps within the plot caused a bit of confusion. Right at the end at a critical moment, in the last few pages one of the elders stated fifteen years had passed since the hero had been away, but, a moment ago it was just one year that he and Kameryn had been together. I got a little confused. Given the genre, this could be natural that time passes faster in the ‘other realm’ than the human realm. If so, I would have loved it if the author made this clearer. But it was no massive issue for me, nor did it take away reading enjoyment. Itmjust raised a question, like ‘ gosh how wonderful would it have been to see what had happened in this timeframe, rather than being told again.’ It just boils down to a bit more plot development, which could have brought this to a full five star read for me—readers (especially me) love it! Give us more! Overall as a reader from my reading experience this was a lovely introduction to the author’s work, I would recommend it to those who love paranormal romance, especially with African- American characters as leads. I would also read more from this author without a doubt, it was enjoyable. Even if I would have loved some parts more developed, rather than skimmed. Four enjoyable stars from me, I am pleased I read it! It was my cup of tea at the end of the day.

Petito writes from her own experience of her battle with addiction. She has created her own views on addiction, recovery, and how to go forward and presented it in this book and addicted the most amazing title to it. With each chapter, there is a story or a little something that is spoken to bring the point of the chapter to life. Many of the chapters had me laughing and others left me thinking about how I could use what I just read in my everyday life.
This author has great points in this novel but some points get lost in the chapter when it comes to the stories. I would like the author to take away some of the stories and add more practices on how to apply what was said to the reader's everyday life. I also love the spaces in the back of each chapter. A place where the reader can place their thoughts. (reviewed by Patrice)

Self-help, Self-love, and self-motivation is this novel plus so much more. Every chapter starts off with a scripture and ends with an affirmation. In the middle of these two are explanations of why you place this scripture in your life and why it is placed in this chapter. Short, sweet, and to the point this book is a great read for any female that is at a point in her life where she needs to feel guidance from the word of God.
As a reader, this book was my eye-opener. This book had me evaluating myself. A feeling of pride and acceptance came over me when finishing each chapter. I find myself rereading chapters to take notes to keep with me when those hard and tough days come along. The author really felt the soul of the woman and made a book that is one for all that wants to be picked up and lifted up.

Title: Lyncing Calendar
Genre: Literary Fiction, African American Fiction
Author: Jessica Starks
Publishing 18th October 2019
Publisher: Onion Publishing
Rating: 5 stars- Emotional Stars, a Must Read.
I’d like to thank the author for sharing this book, wow what an emotional read. Within this short read are a number of stories from past times. Tales of people of colour who suffered at the hands of racism, across the United States of America in a time when racial tension was even more charged than it is in the present day. I found all the stories to be page-turning, heart breaking, and at times while hard to read they are all a must read. I had to read this book in small doses even though I wanted to lap it all up in one siting, as it is a short read. I had to pace myself, this was not because they are badly written or uninteresting, to the contrary. They are so beautifully written they can and at times did draw tears. The most memorable story for me was one of the first I came across, about a man who was basically a target of a local white woman, and a pretty loose woman. She set about sleeping with as many men of colour as she could, she came across one who did not fall for her hypnotic ways. He was a man of God, all he wanted to do was to enlighten her about the word of God, while he helped her chop some wood. To my surprise, she set him up and had him killed by the KKK for a rape and abuse that he did not do. Thing is the local people even though then knew what she was like, they believed her. It felt like reading To Kill a Mockingbird all over again. I can’t really put into words how I felt reading it without being rather disrespectful to this female character, who had a hidden agenda against men of colour, but I will say it was a good read even if sad.
Overall for me I enjoyed every single story. Beautifully written, engaging, the characters also resonated the speech and manners of those from the deep south during the time the stories are set. For this I’d give props to the author for good character development. Five stars, a must read.

Paranormal, romance, and hints of a sexual appetite are only part of this novel. Skye is delivered to a location where she meets her mate. The scent of her blood has power and is wanted by the wrong people. Balen is a prince that falls for a halfbreed. When consuming her love he gains strength and speed. Will this source of power be his downfall. Ryan will do anything to have Balen, even if it means deceiving others or breaking their hearts. Which love will prevail? All is fair in love and war.
The novel was a good combination of paranormal and romance. The flow of the novel was a little difficult at times but at certain points, it would come all together. I would like to see the author use a little less description and to streamline all components of the novel to keep the reader interested.

Title: I wanted Peace: A Divorce Memoir
Genre: Non-Fiction
Author: D. Lynn X
Publishing 12th September 2018
Publisher: Honorable MENCHAN Media LLC
Rating: 4 stars- Short But Insightful
I’d like to thank the author for sharing her insight, and personal experience on her road to a better place. As I read I could easily see how this memoir might be inspirational to others, who are considering leaving a marriage, trying to work up the courage to, or recently have left a marriage and are on the road to recovery. This was clear to me. However, for me I wanted Peace: A Divorce Memoir is an extremely short read of about fifty pages, for a memoir, at times it felt like it was just the surface of the author’s experience I read. More like a justification for the actions taken. While this is personal content that was enjoyable and inspirational to read, I felt as a reader and outsider I would have loved to read more around the author’s actual experiences, this could have been enhanced. This could have helped the narrative to not seem like just the surface or an overview. For example what she did, how she did it, and who helped her and her children survive, also her ex-husband’s responses etc would have been lovely to read in more detail. The rawness and emotion I felt was left out, adding to the smaller page count, or feeling of an overview of the memoir. I would have loved for this memoir to be a little more ‘raw’ and from the heart, but don’t get me wrong it’s certainly a good and worthwhile read! I recommend it to anyone who has been faced with the decision to leave a marriage, on the road to recovery or who has an interest in the subject matter. I could fully understand why the author did what she did, and how I this short read could help others. Four stars from me, thank you for sharing your story.

This book was a good read. All the characters were able to bring a true identity to the storyline. I do not know if the author did this, but in my opinion it seems like the storyline was built around the characters. The development of the characters and storyline went hand in hand. For situations in the novel are very believable and that was a great addition to the novel. A storyline that you can really see happening. The only thing that keeps this novel from getting 5 stars is some questions that were left unanswered for the reader. Please author come up with a part 2 or give a conclusion because I would love to see what happens to Denise as a woman and ato Denise and Tyrell as a couple/parents.

Each character had a purpose in the storyline. Wilson did a great job making this story very believable. Now there were some twists and turns that added to the greatness of this book. The book thornes of my past is a descriptive fame set of memoirs that explains the trails and tribulations of a young Christian woman .For example in chapter one the author opens the sence with her grandmother trying to explain something to her but as a young woman arrell does not understand. We can understand this as women right? The response to her grandmother questions with respect and shows the reader how she as a young woman back then dealt with problems by consulting with grandmother . In this example arrell told in so Juliemany words about her womanhood choices a good point young women she think about as they read her words and here her message. Enter the life of Dakota. She is the all around teen. Smart, pretty, slick mouth but nothing less than a typical teen. We all know that things change with those older teen years. Well Dakota is now in the 11th grade and her life is far from perfect. She has a friend well used to being a friend that has problems at home and doesnt know how to handle it. Her own parents are in the process of getting an divorce and Dakota has to deal with that on top of all the other craziness that is happening at home.
A great storyline and character development is something you would not see in a debut author. I went to see if any other works were published and I was unable to find any. I was blown away by the style and grace. Ease to read because of the great flow. I love a book where I can sit back and see the book play in your mind.

trice Poems from the motherland is the vibe that I get when reading this anthology. I have never really been a fan of anthologies but this was great. Reason being is that they all were on the same wavelength. This book was just not a random group of just placed in a book but thought out poems that are supported by a similar subject. The descriptions and wordings all made you feel as if you were in a little village enjoying a great book.
My favorite poem was Heart Apart by I’Prince D’ Poet. A breakup poem. My very first time reading one I must say. This poem was sweet but to the point telling the reading that no matter what they might do; they are just never meant be together

Fantasy and magic comes together in this debut novel by Nichole Thomas. King Kaison and Queen Alanna rule the kingdom. And for years, they have been trying to produce a child. Well the time has come for a king but there is someone in the kingdom that is not too happy with this joyous occasion. You have those around that want the power that is waiting for the new king. Family is not always for family. She (Devona) wants her son to become king but time will time about that idea. By the way, did I forget to say that She is the King’s sister. You have Alric and Elhaani sent to the Oracle to receive guidance. Others in the story such as David and Akronius are looking for Alanna’s and Kiason's child . Who will become the ruler of this kingdom? Who will come join forces and become allies for the greater good? WHO WILL WIN???
I needed more from this novel. Chapters were short and had little depth. The reasoning for this statement is because there is no conflict that went past two chapters. It was a conflict present and then solved. I wanted to keep hanging for a little while at times. I wanted to see the story unfold and come together a little smoother. I would have seen the characters have a defined purpose in some chapters. With a little more seasoning in this novel, I feel that the rating could have been a little higher.

Z is a man that any woman would want. Sexy, intelligent, gentleman, just everything. To put the icing on the cake he knows his skills in the bedroom. How can any woman resist him? But this is where the trouble starts. Z is juggling 3 ladies that we know of in this novel and keeping them all happy until he decides that it is time to settle down. Z decided that Sapphire is the lady that he wants in his corner. Other players in the game of life such as LaQuitta, Smok , and Deja all will have a say so in the relationship between Z and Sapphire. Who will be left in the end? What will happen when all the roads meet?
This book was a dozy. It kept me at the edge of my seat. When you think why is this character here or what is the purpose of this character, the next sentence or page answers that question. It's crazy how the characters are intertwined with each other and no one knows until you get to the end of the novel and things start to fall apart. The author leaves you with a cliffhanger that makes you go and read the second novel. The work of a skilled author.
